Burnout in lecturers of an agronomic institute of technology

Abstract

INTRODUCTION. Lecturers’ Stress can cause physical and behavioral problems that affect education quality. To mitigate this risk, the presence of Burnout Syndrome and stress level was determined. OBJECTIVE. To analyze the Burnout Syndrome presence in professors of an agronomic higher education institution and its relationship with psychosocial aspects. METHOD. This is a descriptive-cross-sectional study with application of Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) Questionnaire to measure the level of Burnout. RESULTS. Seven teachers (24.14%) present Burnout Syndrome, while 21 (72.41%) are at risk and one teacher (3.45%) do not have this syndrome. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS. Uniquely, the Depersonalization dimension exhibited a statistically significant difference in marital status and professional field.
